07/12/06 - The USPS has honored the Florida alligator with a 39-cent
stamp for being the largest reptile found in the United States.  Some
examples of the species can reach a length of 19 feet.

The stamps are part of the postal service's Wonder of America series,
which celebrates the biggest, tallest, longest or whateverest natural or
man-made people, places, or things they could find.

All part of the American mentality:  if some is good, more is better, and
most is best.
