07/23/06 -- A Texas commercial property developer won the Ernest
Hemingway look-alike contest during the annual Hemingway Days
festival held in Key West in honor of the famous former resident.
Chris Storm of Amarillo, appropriately dressed in khaki hunting garb, did
a take-off of Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues" as he pleaded for
votes against 130 other contestants at Sloppy Joe's Bar. The bar, a
favorite with locals and tourists alike, is renown as the author's favorite
watering hole.
The contest was preceded by other Hemingway Days events including a
"Running of the Bulls" in which the Papas pushed replicas of bulls
through the streets of Key West..
Papa would be proud.
